6 Reasons Lip Filler Could Be Your Next Favorite Treatment

I have built my practice with the approach of maintaining and enhancing natural beauty, so my clients have a similar mindset. I often hear, “I would NEVER do lip filler”. When I explore this more, I learn that many women fear looking over done or having lips that look like sausages or “ducky” and I can’t blame them! We are flooded with images of women who have gone overboard in changing their appearance and the results can be unsettling. My clients don’t want to look weird or overdone. Many don’t want their enhancements to be obvious at all!

Sometimes I recommend lip filler and the client looks at me like I’m nuts. They may assume lip filler is only for the young gals posing for kissy-face selfies or the finishing touch on a dramatic face lift. While both of those scenarios could be true, there are so many reasons why I may recommend lip filler! At Even Esthetics™, we carry a wide assortment of FDA approved hyaluronic acid fillers. Each of these fillers has different properties and behaves differently in tissue, so we have a toolbox full of options to expertly choose the best filler for your unique tissue needs and desired results. And because we believe you are paying for a beautiful result and not a syringe of gel, all of our fillers are priced the same. This allows us to take price out of the equation and focus on choosing the filler that is best for the job.

Before you write off lip filler as “not for you”, read on to learn about 6 reasons lip filler could be your next favorite treatment:

  1. Lip filler can add volume to lips that are naturally thin

Many women have lips that are naturally thin and desire a fuller or more visible lip. Whether this is to showcase a favorite lip color or just to get more volume, lip filler is often the answer for women who have naturally thin lips. When you have thin lips to start with, it is important to build the fuller lip very slowly. This means is may take multiple sessions to reach the desired final outcome.

Thin lips can also be caused by the aging process. As we age and our natural collagen breaks down, the lips can appear thinner. Filler is an excellent way to restore lost volume and bring lips back to where they used to be. See #3 for more on this!

2. Lip filler can smooth and hydrate the lips

This is my personal favorite reason, and the reason I get filler in my own lips! Dry skin, aging, and sun exposure are just some of the reasons lips can appear wrinkled. If you want to turn your raisin lips into plump, juicy grapes then lip filler is the answer! For clients who love their natural lip shape and don’t necessarily want bigger lips, using filler that hydrates and smooths the lip tissue is an option. Your injector can precisely place a thinner filler to give the smooth appearance while maintaining your current shape.

3. Lip filler can support the lip border and improve signs of aging

Lips are one of those features that easily show your age. The aging process causes lips to become thinner and vertical lines form through the lip border. The lip border becomes less defined and almost “collapses”. The area between your nose and top lip (known as the ergotrid) elongates and the 2 lines connecting the base of the nose with the cupid’s bow (philtral columns) flatten out. When combined, all these changes contribute significantly to an aged appearance of the lower face. Filler is the best solution to address these changes! With filler, I can support that lip border so it appears crisp and well defined, shorten the appearance of the ergotrid, and return definition to the philtral columns. I can also replace lost volume and give a smooth appearance to the lips. I very frequently hear that clients are nervous to look over done or unnatural when lip filler is placed in an aged lip, but my clients are always beyond pleased with the beautiful and natural appearance of their more youthful lip!

4. Lip filler can balance facial features

My clients hear me preach about balance over and over- instead of isolating and focusing on individual features, I like to examine the face as a whole and make recommendations which improve proportions and overall balance. This advanced approach allows me to get the most impactful, yet subtle results that I am known for. The lips can play a major role in achieving facial balance, especially in those who have a strong nose or chin. Many of my lip filler clients are shocked to see the change in their overall appearance of the size of their nose after getting lip filler!

Because placing filler in the lips will have an impact in the surrounding tissue, I often will strategically place small amounts of filler in other locations to ensure the final look is natural, subtle, and beautiful.

5. Lip filler can improve asymmetries

First, everyone is asymmetrical! The sides of your face are sisters, not twins. Asymmetries in the lip can be caused by many different things, and determining the underlying cause is essential. For those who have a bothersome asymmetry in the lip, filler could be the answer! I can often improve existing asymmetries by addressing them with thoughtfully placed filler. It is important to note that not all asymmetries can be improved with filler and perfect symmetry is not a realistic goal. But in many cases, my clients are happy with the improvement which gives them more confidence!

6. Enhance features on a naturally fuller lip

Clients who have naturally full lips may be hesitant to consider lip filler because they do not want their lips to appear too big. But lip filler can be used to enhance features like a cupid’s bow or “key hole pout” without adding significant volume. Sometimes we can highlight the beauty of the natural lip by just placing small amounts in the lip border. Little tweaks using filler can really highlight your natural features without looking overdone!

I hope this list helps to explain a few benefits to lip filler and some of the reasons I may recommend it! If you are wondering if lip filler could be right for you, consider coming in for an in-person complimentary consultation.  I’d love to sit down and chat to see how we can reach your goals!
