5 Reasons You Should Try Microneedling with PRFM

Microneedling with PRFM is a safe and effective way to rejuvenate the skin of the face, neck, or décolletage by harnessing the body’s own healing power.

5 Benefits of Microneedling with PRFM

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is an aesthetic procedure which uses a mechanical pen with a plate of super tiny needles to create channels in the skin. These micro injuries trick the body into triggering the healing process which produces more collagen. The microchannels can also be used to deliver serums or PRFM deeper into the skin for a stronger response.

What is PRFM?

PRFM stands for Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix. It is derived from a component of your whole blood. PRFM is obtained by drawing the client’s blood and spinning it in a centrifuge. This separates the PRFM from the rest of the blood, and the PRFM is then either applied topically after microneedling or injected. PRFM contains your body’s own natural growth factors for a natural and impactful facial rejuvenation.

OK, so what are the benefits of microneedling with PRFM?

1. Beautiful rejuvenation of your skin

Microneedling alone will trigger your body to boost your own natural collagen, but when PRFM is added the result is even more impactful. Because PRFM contains your own growth factors which act as an anti aging treatment, it enhances the result of microneedling alone. Additionally, microneedling with PRFM will rejuvenate your entire face and can also be used on the neck, décolletage, and stretch marks. This is a fantastic option for those wanting total rejuvenation vs. just focusing on one specific area of the face.

Microneedling with PRFM is used to improve:

-scars from acne or trauma

- fine lines and wrinkles

- discoloration and dullness

- texture/elasticity/loose/crepey skin

-overall youthful skin appearance

I recommend starting with a series of 3 treatments spaced 1 month apart, and then having a “booster” treatment every 6-12 months.

The ideal age to do a microneedling with PRFM treatment is anywhere between 20-70 years old! In the younger client we can target sun damage, acne scarring, and overall complexion. In the early to mid 30’s client, we can target all of the above with the added benefit of improving or preventing sagging skin. For mid 30’s on, we can target fine lines and wrinkles and help rejuvenate your skin which rapidly uses collagen through the aging process.

In addition to PRFM, I carry advanced treatment serums which can be used to boost results or target specific solutions such as skin firming or brightening. Advanced serums can be used with or without PRFM. I will apply the serum at the time of your treatment and you will take the rest home to continue applying for a few days until the serum is gone.

2. It’s 100% natural

For those with very sensitive skin or the desire to avoid chemicals, microneedling with PRFM provides an effective option! Because the PRFM is made from your own blood, there is virtually no chance of causing a reaction. The system I use at Even Esthetics™ was chosen specifically because the blood collection tubes do not contain any substances such as a gel separator or anticoagulant (blood thinner). This means that the treatment is 100% natural and chemical free.

3. PRFM decreases downtime

While traditional microneedling comes with an average downtime of 3 days, adding PRFM to your treatment can dramatically speed your healing time. Your PRFM contains healing white blood cells which can rapidly improve the redness and tightness that is typical after microneedling. Downtime from typical microneedling is brief and involves redness and dryness similar to a sunburn. The discomfort is mild, but who wouldn’t want to speed up the healing process?!

4. PRFM is a very safe treatment

Safety is a non-negotiable for me, and one of the reasons why I absolutely love microneedling with PRFM. Because microneedling with PRFM is an autologous treatment (using substance from your own body), it is safe for most people and a wide array of skin colors. Some treatments such as lasers or chemical peels are not ideal for those with darker skin, but microneedling is appropriate for all skin colors. Microneedling may not be the right choice for you if you have poor wound healing, have a bleeding disorder, an allergy to stainless steel, or take isotretinoin (Accutane). Microneedling has not been safety tested in pregnant or breastfeeding women.

I exclusively use SkinPen, an FDA cleared microneedling device, so you can rest assured that your treatment will be both safe AND effective. The device allows me to dial in the needle depths with precision to target different areas of the face. The needle device is a closed system and the needle head is thrown away after each client so there is no risk of contamination.

5. PRFM releases more slowly and is more concentrated than PRP

PRP, or platelet rich plasma, is a powerful component of whole blood that is created in a very similar way to PRFM. The main difference is the angle and speed in which the blood is spun to separate “the good stuff”. I chose to use PRFM at Even Esthetics™ for many reasons, but one is the extended release of growth factors which you will not get from PRP. Because the blood collection tubes do not contain an anticoagulant (blood thinner), it allows the fibrin matrix within the blood to stay intact. This keeps the growth factors active for a longer period which lets them to release more slowly for an added benefit.
